Germination Stage Screening of Mutants of Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L. Walp) to Salinity Tolerance

نویسندگان

چکیده

To test the tolerance of cowpea mutants to salinity, wilds and were subjected 50, 100, 150, 200, 250 mM NaCl for salinity. Genotype salt concentration interaction significant. GxS explained mostly variation observed. More informative concentrations found in 50 (99.08) C100 (72.50) against 26.80 control environment. High had lowest germination rates. Seed rate genotypes decreased from 56.46 20.58 with a mean 36.28 variance 99.08. Despite strong correlations observed between indices, very weak ones AD STI, -0.02, -0.44, -0.7, -0.79 -0.84 respectively at 200 250. Mouride wild types most tolerant 43 % versus 48 551 Melakh Yacine. Six (6) more weakest checks performance which was 9th best performance.

Assessing genotypic variability of cowpea (Vigna unguiculata [L.] Walp.) to current and projected ultraviolet-B radiation.

The current and projected terrestrial ultraviolet-B (UV-B) radiation affects growth and reproductive potential of many crops. Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata [L.] Walp.), mostly grown in tropical and sub-tropical regions may already be experiencing critical doses of UV-B radiation due to a thinner ozone column in those regions. Better understanding of genotypic variability to UV-B radiation is a prer...

NaCl Effects on In Vitro Germination and Growth of Some Senegalese Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.) Cultivars

Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.) is one of the most important grain legumes in sub-Saharian regions. It contributes to man food security by providing a protein-rich diet. However, its production is limited by abiotic stresses such as salinity. This study aims to evaluate the salt tolerance of 15 cowpea cultivars, at germination stage. The seed germination process consisted of sowing them i...

Genetic variability and resistance of cultivars of cowpea [Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp] to cowpea weevil (Callosobruchus maculatus Fabr.).

The cowpea weevil (Callosobruchus maculatus Fabr.) is the most destructive pest of the cowpea bean; it reduces seed quality. To control this pest, resistance testing combined with genetic analysis using molecular markers has been widely applied in research. Among the markers that show reliable results, the inter-simple sequence repeats (ISSRs) (microsatellites) are noteworthy. This study was pe...

Additive interactions of unrelated viruses in mixed infections of cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L. Walp)

This study was carried out to determine the effects of single infections and co-infections of three unrelated viruses on three cowpea cultivars (one commercial cowpea cultivar "White" and 2 IITA lines; IT81D-985 and TVu 76). The plants were inoculated with Cowpea aphid-borne mosaic virus (CABMV), genus Potyvirus, Cowpea mottle virus (CMeV), genus Carmovirus and Southern bean mosaic virus (SBMV)...
